General Information

1.VENUE AND DATE OF CONFERENCE

The 7^th Biennial Conference of the Association of Parliamentary Librarians of Asia and the Pacific: “The Role of Parliamentary Libraries in Enhancing Democracy in the Digital Age” shall be held in Ankara, Turkey between September 9-14, 2002.

The main venue of Conference will be the Grand National Assembly Building.

2. FORMS

Please fill out attached forms and mail them to the addresses shown on the forms. We appreciate if you could fax us the forms in advance.

Ö REGISTRATION FORM

Participants are requested to complete the attached registration form. In case there is more than one participant, please copy the registration form and return one for each person. Please also indicate whether you plan to make a presentation.

Ö FLIGHT INFORMATION FORM

Please let us know your flight information. We will meet you at the airport and provide transport from the airport to your hotel.

ÖACCOMMODATION FORM

Accommodation has been arranged with the Hilton Hotel at a special rate for the Conference participants. Those who are interested to stay in another hotel may prefer to stay at the King Hotel.  The reservations should be made directly with the Hotel Managements. Please let us know your hotel information if you would like us to provide transport from the airport to your hotel.

3. COUNTRY REPORTS

Please prepare a country report within 10 pages and mail it to the aforementioned address. We would appreciate if you could fax or e-mail your paper at the same time.

4. EQUIPMENTS FOR PRESENTATION

If you are going to make presentation by using a computer, please e-mail your presentation file, so that we can confirm beforehand that your file format is compatible with our equipment. Specification of our software and hardware for presentation is as follows:

The personnel who have APLAP sign with them will meet you at the Ankara Esenboga Airport.

Bus Service will be provided for all activities included in the Conference Program. (Ankara map)

6. CLIMATE

The weather is generally warm and dry in early September. The temperature in Ankara range from 23°-27° C.

7.CURRENCY

The Turkish Lira is the legal tender of the Republic of Turkey. The hotels provide currency exchange and travelers’ cheques facilities. You may find exchange bureaus at the airport and in the city center.
